With the Bruins sitting 4th in the Atlantic Division and in the second wild card placement for the playoffs, General Manager Don Sweeny is looking to trade for impact players to contribute to this years' playoff push. The Bruins have been in need of a second-line center since David Krejci's retirement, and it's been speculated that JT Miller could fit that need.
While speaking to the media last week, GM Sweeney spoke on the Bruins' actions ahead of the deadline, saying "If we can find the best players to help our club then that's what we're going to do. As an organization, we've definitely identified some players that may or may not be available, but some teams may not see it that way and are still evaluating what they're going to do at the deadline.»
Since then, the market cost has been set on JT Miller. The trade of Tyler Toffoli indicates the price for the Bruins to acquire Miller would be a first-round pick, another mid-round draft pick, a prospect like Jack Studnicka, and a roster player like Jake DeBrusk.
Miller is having a wildly successful year on the struggling Canucks, with 48 points in 47 games, and carries $5.25M in salary through 2022-23. He's a quality player, and notably brings a physical game that would fit well with the Boston Bruins. Look for the Bruins to make a splash at the trade deadline to help this year's playoff run.
