There's a buzz going around about a potential-jump to professional surrounding the Bruins' most recent first-round pick.
He was drafted in the first round, at 19th overall of the 2021 NHL Entry Draft, Fabian Lysell. The 19-year-old Swedish forward has produced for the Vancouver Giants in the WHL, with 21 goals and 60 points in 51 games.
If the Vancouver Giants don't clinch one of the three remaining playoff spots, Bruins fans could see Lysell in Providence as early as next week.
The Giants are in sixth place but are 34 points behind fifth-place Kelowna Rockets, who they meet this weekend. Only two points separate the sixth to ninth teams, and if Vancouver loses their two remaining games, there's a chance they miss the playoffs.
First, Bruins' GM Don Sweeney has to get Lysell signed to his entry-level contract, and there's still no guarantee he will turn pro. Most likely, he will, so he can develop even more in the AHL, and when Boston is in the playoffs, his ELC won't have to kick in.
Will Bruins fans possibly see Fabian Lysell in a Boston jersey in the Stanley Cup playoffs?
Here are some of Lysell's highlights from his season in the WHL:
