The score was 2-1 in the first period for the Colorado Avalanche, and they were already on the powerplay when the officials made a brutal call on Lightning's Anthony Cirelli to make it a five-on-three.
As Cale Makar fumbles the puck on the blue line and falls as he's spinning around to get the puck. Cirelli's stick taps his leg, but there's no way he goes down that easy. Either he trips on his own feet, or he sells the call.
Both Cirelli and head coach Jon Cooper were furious that the referees called that a penalty, especially since the Avalanche were already on the man advantage.
This is Tampa Bay's third straight Stanley Cup Final, so I think they know what officiating should and shouldn't look like at this point in the season.
Of course, Colorado would score on the five-on-three to go up 3-1.
