The Buffalo Sabres are bringing back a fan favourite classic!
The club announced their bringing back the 'Goathead'' black and red sweater for the 2022-23 season, which was worn from 1996 to 2006. The classic was worn by former Sabres stars like Dominik Hasek, Danny Briere, Chris Drury, and Michael Peca.
They were originally unveiled in 1996 at an open practice at Memorial Auditorium, the logo itself was designed by a Vermont company that designed snowboards primarily. The iconic jersey was worn in the Stanley Cup Finals in 1999 against the Dallas Stars.
''What we're trying to do is revive interest in Sabres hockey,'' Sabres president Doug Moss said at the time. 'To be honest, I think this town could use something to be excited about.''
