At the NHL Trade Deadline, Lindholm was acquired from the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for a 2022 first-round pick, second-round picks in 2023 and 2024, Urho Vaakanainen and John Moore. The Boston Bruins, in turn, signed Lindholm to an 8-year, $52 million contract with an AAV of $6.5 million.
He was asked about what he thinks of the Boston weather compared to living in Southern California while playing with Anaheim:
"I love it. I come from Sweden, so this is more my kind of climate. I love being in the sun as well, but I'm here to play hockey. I'm not here to get a good tan, so it's more fun to be in something closer to home, and I think it's exciting for me to be on the East Coast too."
