The NHL saw its most offensive season since the mid-1990s with 3.14 goals per game average across the entire league this year.
Dating all the back to 1917, the 2021-22 season ranks 35th all-time, with the next closest since the turning of the century coming in 2005-06 at 38th (3.05 goals per game). Not only were there a lot of goals this season, but this was easily the most highly-skilled season that NHL fans have ever witnessed.
From veterans like Claude Giroux and Brad Marchand to the league's best in Connor McDavid and Auston Matthews, or rookie Trevor Zegras who has changed how skill can be produced, the 2021-22 season was blessed with an abundance of highlight-reel goals.
