Trade rumors continue to build regarding Boston Bruins forward David Backes.

The veteran was a healthy scratch during the season and was even sent to the press box during the Bruins Stanley Cup run at times.

He carries a heavy $6million a season salary cap hit for the next two seasons, a lot to pay for somebody who might not even crack the lineup.

We heard him mentioned in a possible trade to the New Jersey Devils earlier this week in a salary cap dump type trade, but maybe he could be headed to New YorkCity.

Lyle Richardson of SpectorsHockey explains that the Rangers could get into the idea of a one for one swap for forward Chris Kreider.

Kreider has been mentioned to be on the block and would give the Bruins an extra $1million on the salary cap for this season and give them a left winger who could move and down in the lineup.

It's a contract that makes sense for the Bruins' as he's only got one year left, gives them a tiny bit of breathing room for this year to sign Charlie McAvoy and Brandon Carlo while frees up an extra $4.65million to try and signTorey Krug next year.

Would you be interested in a Kreider/Backes swap?
