The veteran forward spent his first 16 seasons with the Philadelphia Flyers before being traded to the Florida Panthers at last season's Trade Deadline.
After a second-round sweep to the Tampa Bay Lightning, Giroux decided to leave Florida and go back home to Ontario.
As per TSN's Pierre LeBrun:
The Ottawa Senators have gone from another bottom ten season to a potential playoff team in the last two weeks.
GM Pierre Dorion has now added Alex DeBrincat, Claude Giroux and Cam Talbot while offloading only Matt Murray, Colin White and possibly Connor Brown later today. He also did give up any prospects or future first-round picks.
