Connor McDavid is the latest from the NHL to speak up about rules/officiating Thursday night.

McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers dropped a 4-3 shootout decision to the St. Louis Blues last night but it came with some controversy.

Leon Draisaitl scored the overtime winner, or so he thought, until it was overturned for offside by the Oilers' captain. (See below)

He discussed the play postgame, stating that he had possession the entire time, which should determine if the play is offside or not.

Zach Laing of Oilers Nation shared the following quotes from McDavid:

''The league has got to clarify some of these rules. What's a kick? What's offside? What's goalie interference? It kind of depends on the night I guess.''

'Since i was a kid I thought if you had possession of the puck it's onside. We just want some clarity on some of these rules. We've been burned on a few kicks and stuff like that. Calgary had the situation last year in the playoffs.''

''It kind of goes back a long way not understanding some of the rules of our own game. It's kind of funny i guess.'

Whether it was offside or onside, McDavid makes an excellent point about today's NHL and its rules. Even the players, let alone the referees, don't know what goalie interference or a kick, and that's the way offsides are becoming.
