Derek Forbort is the definition of a shutdown defenseman.
The 30-year-old has been in the NHL for seven seasons and has never posted more than 18 points in a single campaign.
Forbort's reputation instead revolves around how he acts in his own zone. He's known as a defensive-minded defender, who excels at shutting opponents down.
An efficient penalty killer, Forbort's skills were on full display on Thursday night.
Check out his shift when the Bruins were shorthanded to the Penguins in the opening period.
Forbort's shift on the Bruins penalty kill was so impressive that Crosby himself showed the d-man some love.
Check out the stick tap 87 gave him once the whistle was finally blown.
