The hockey world lost an awesome guy and player when former Boston Bruins and Edmonton Oilers player, Colby Cave, passed away on April 11th, 2020.

After his passing, it was evident how much of an impact Cave made on his friends and teammates, former and current.

To honour his legacy, the Edmonton Oilers created the announced the Colby Cave Memorial Fund on April 14th, 2020, which raises money for community programs focused on mental health initiatives and providing athletic access to underprivileged children.

The Providence Bruins followed suit on August 11th, 2020, announcing the creation of the Colby Cave Memorial Award, to be presented annually to the player who demonstrates a dedication to the community and charity.

Colby's widow, Emily Cave, shared a recent post on Twitter, sharing that his former teammate, Danton Heinen, is aiming to honour Colby throughout the 2022-23 NHL season and hopefully beyond.

As per Emily Cave (@emilyljcave) on Twitter:

''Doesn't get much better than these two. Countless stories & special moments between Dan & Colb during his career. For every goal Dan got this season, he donated $1,000 to Colb's memorial fund. I know Colb would want him to have & rock his hat for him. We love the Heinens ❤️''

Emily also shared that Heinen was wearing Colby's old hat at his wedding as well
