The former Boston Bruins head coach no longer has his own segment on Coach's Corner, but he made a big decision regarding his future.
Don Cherry is known for his flashy suits, and is also known for not holding back when it comes to saying the truth and how he feels, and throughout the years Cherry endeared himself to millions of Canadiens during his time with the Coach's Corner that was featured on Sportsnet. Ultimately Cherry got himself in some trouble after making some controversial comments, that would lead to his dismissal from Sportsnet.
Cherry didn't let this stop him from doing what he loved, since 2019 Cherry has released his own podcast called 'The Don Cherry Podcats'. On his podcast he states his opinions, and thoughts of all thigns hockey, and even answers fans questions. Cherry revealed his future with his podcast for the 2024-25 season:
Don Cherry will notably keep a close eye on the Boston Bruins, and Toronto Maple Leafs, two teams Don Cherry roots for, and one he use to coach back in the day. Both teams made some big changes in the off-season, making it interesting for him to keep an eye on both teams.
Don Cherry appeared in one NHL game for the Boston Bruins during his career, and then coached the Bruins from 1974-75, to 1979-80 before being fired, and going to coach the Colorado Rockies a year before a few stints in the AHL. After coaching Don Cherry retired to become a broadcaster, and would become a Canadian icon.
