Ex-NHL defenseman Ben Harpur handed a massive suspension after intentionally trying to injury a goaltender
Former NHL defenseman Ben Harpur was just given a massive suspension after intentionally trying to injury a goaltender.
During a game on Friday, Ben Harpur was thrown out of a game in the American Hockey league for taking a run at the opposing teams goalie, and seemed to be trying to intentionally injury him.
This happened when the Hartford Wolfpack played the Rochester Americans.
"Don't think I've ever seen anything like this beforeBen Harpur was given a 5 min. major and a game misconduct tonight in the AHL for charging into G Felix Sandstrom.
And he certainly did it with the intent to injure the goalie," Harpur took a run at the opposing goaltender, and it resulted in him receiving a five minute major along with a game misconduct, and now there are more consequences for Harpur.
No one really understood on why Harpur would do something like this, but new reports have revealed that Harpur was getting payback after Sandstrom injured him last year.
actually harpur definitely was going after him for this which was very clearly unintentional but the resulting injury kept harpur out the rest of last season so he was 100% out for revenge on felix sandstrom which makes it even worse tbh...
Mollie Walker of the New York Post has confirmed that Harpur has been suspended for four games for taking a run at Sandstrom.
AHL's Player Safety Committee just announced Wolf Pack defenseman Ben Harpur has been suspended for four games for this charging incident in Rochester last night #NYR
