Nashville Predators defenseman Dante Fabbro was just claimed off of waivers after having some connections to the Boston Bruins.

Yesterday the Nashville Predators shocked the hockey world after they announced that Dante Fabbro was placed on waivers. This would have been a perfect opportunity for the Bruins as they recently just lost a right handed defenseman.

Andrew Peeke is out week-to-week for the Boston Bruins, and having a former first round pick placed on waivers, what better opportunity.

Unfortunately for the Boston Bruins, they did not get to claim him as the Columbus Blue Jackets who have higher priority in the waiver list ended up claiming him off waivers.

Columbus claims Fabbro

The Nashville Predators originally drafted Dante Fabbro in the first-round of the 2016 NHL Entry Level Draft. The last two years his ice time has taken a big decrease with the Predators.

Barry Trotz sent the Nashville Predators a message, not only with this move but a couple days ago when he said if they don't start winning, they are going to start their rebuild.

This move was a big message sent to the players of the Predators as it shows that he means what he said when he stated he is going to start the rebuild if things don't turn around for the team.

Fabbro only carries a $2.5 million contract, but this would have been hard for the Bruins to make room for, as after signing Tyler Johnson to his deal, the Bruins have close to no cap space left.

Do you think the Boston Bruins would have claimed Fabbro off of waivers?
