Like several players do after their career is over, a former Boston Bruins player has found a job on the coaching staff of an NHL team.

And that's precisely the case for former Bruins forward Tommy Wingels, who joins fellow former NHL defenseman Lucas Sbisa as a development coach with the San Jose Sharks.

Wingels and Sbisa will work alongside longtime Sharks development coach Mike Ricci under the new director of player development Todd Marchant.

Wingels was drafted in the sixth round (177th overall) by the Sharks in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, where he spent the majority of his career. He also spent time with the Ottawa Senators, Chicago Blackhawks and the Boston Bruins.

The Illinois native only appeared in 18 games with the Bruins after coming over from the Blackhawks on February 26th, 2018, and recorded 2 goals and 3 assists.

After two seasons with Genève-Servette HC of the National League (NL), Wingels officially announced his retirement from professional hockey on June 11th, 2020. Wingels finished his NHL career with 62 goals and 81 assists in 448 games.
