Head coach of the Boston Bruins, Jim Montgomery, may have found something special when he put a certain line together near the end of the preseason a couple of weeks ago.

Because of a Taylor Hall injury, the Czech trio of David Pastrnak, David Krejci and Pavel Zacha were put together, and they had immediate chemistry. Not only that, but it also carried into the regular season opener, as Pasta finished with 1 goal and 3 assists, Krejci with 1 goal and 2 assists and Zacha with one assist.

The notable combination was Krejci and Pasta, however. Even though the former left for just one season, the two actually hadn't played on a line consistently since 2015-16, when Pastrnak was just 19 years old.

Pasta touched on how it's special for him as it may be the last season for his fellow countryman Krejci and the B's captain Patrice Bergeron:

''You want to do everything possible to make it enjoyable for them. You never know, the career is short, and it goes by quick. So, that's all the stuff we want to recognize, and we want to have a special year and do it for those two.''

Former coach Bruce Cassidy was hesitant to move Pastrnak away from the 'Perfection Line'' with Bergeron and Brad Marchand, so the two Czechs never got much of an opportunity to play together.

However, after a brief stint together at the IIHF World Championships, Krejci realised he could still play at the NHL level. Something Pastrnak always knew was possible:

''It's great. Obviously, it's gonna be different for him. Maybe he doesn't admit it, but it's obviously different coming from big ice to small.''

''I think he's only gonna get better, and he already looked pretty good out there to me.''

Depending on the severity of the injury to Jake Debrusk that happened late in the second period against the Washington Capitals, the Bruins may have to rely on the Czech line even more going forward. But Krejci's been in the NHL for a long time, and his veteran leadership can be key to future success.

''Obviously it's great we got a win, and as a line, we chipped in, but at the same time, second period wasn't the strongest for our line But we talked about it, and we came out strong in the third. You're gonna make mistakes. This is a good league. You make a mistake, and you're gonna pay for it, and we did that in the second.''

'But I feel like, in this league, it's always about a response. Us as a line and us as a team, we did that really well in the third period and finished the game against a really good team.''

-Krejci
