Another Eastern Conference team has been hit with the injury bug, as the Montreal Canadiens have announced that defenseman Mike Matheson will miss a significant amount of time.
The Habs announced the news just recently:
''Mike Matheson devrait manquer huit semaines en raison d'une entorse au muscle abdominal, selon les résultats d'une IRM.''
''Mike Matheson is expected to miss eight weeks with an abdominal muscle strain, following the results of an MRI.''
Matheson was acquired this summer from the Pittsburgh Penguins that sent defenseman Jeff Petry and forward prospect Ryan Poehling the other way.
Matheson was originally selected 23rd overall by the Florida Panthers in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft. In 417 career games split between the Panthers and Penguins he's registered 49 goals and 89 assists.
