Erik Haula has been quite the revelation for the Bruins this season.

Never known to be a steady point producer during his career, the B's centerman has settled in nicely on the second line and has elevated his point production by doing so.

On Sunday night, Haula netted his 16th and 17th goals of the current regular season, the second highest total in that category of his nine-year career.

While it was far from his prettiest tally, Haula's first goal on Saturday was an important one regardless.

Thanks to his rather unusual tally, Erik Haula became just the fourth Bruins player to ever score on a penalty shot against the Canadiens. He was also the first Boston player to net a penalty shot against the Habs in close to a quarter century!

The only other Bruins players to have scored on a penalty shot against the Canadiens are:
Tim Taylor on April 15 of 1998,
Leo Boivin on January 4 of 1964,
and Woody Dumart on January 14 of 1940!

Want another fun fact?

Haula's marker was the second penalty shot goal of the season for the Bruins (Brad Marchand did the same on October 16, against Dallas). By doing so, Boston matched Montreal for the most penalty shot goals scored among all NHL teams during the 2021-22 campaign!

Talk about making history. (And coming so close to missing out!)
