Goaltenders are possibly the most unpredictable athletes when it comes to developing into true pros, and Jeremy Swayman of the Boston Bruins is no exception.

Swayman holds an obscure fact in how he went from a fourth-round pick playing in the Hockey East League with the University of Maine to a solid 1A/1B NHL goaltender. The 24-year-old credits an increase in movement and goalie skills to a ballet class he took while at UMaine.

Kevin Woodley of NHL.com:

''Do you know that Jeremy Swayman's breakthrough year at the University of Maine, he credits part of it to ballet? He actually took a ballet class ... His mom teaches barre; he took a ballet class because some of the senior skaters had taken it, and he really felt it improved his movement, his dorsiflexion through the ankle, which is key for goaltenders.''

Years later, the Alaskan is a solid NHLer and, in 58 career games, holds a record of 34-19-3, a 2.29 GAA, .917 SV% and five shutouts.

He joined Jeff Marek and Elliotte Friedman this summer for a special video version of the 32 Thoughts podcast. Check it out below as he discussed what taking ballet classes did for his career:
