Nazem Kadri broke out in a big way during the 2021-22 season, making him a hot commodity as an unrestricted free agent this summer.

He registered a career-high in assists (59) and points (87) and added 15 points in 16 playoff games to a Stanley Cup with the Colorado Avalanche.

Now 32, Kadri is in the first year of a seven-year, $49 million contract with the Calgary Flames and is living up to it so far with five goals and five assists in the first eight games of the season.

However, Pierre LeBrun of TSN and The Athletic revealed that three teams from the Eastern Conference offered Kadri more money that he ultimately turned down to go to Calgary.

Pierre LeBrun reported earlier in the summer that Kadri had turned down a six-year contract with an annual average value of $8.5 million. His father, Sam, revealed that the Islanders, Rangers and Blue Jackets were among the teams that showed interest in his son.

It's not confirmed which team offered the six-year, $49.5 million contract, but the one that's surprising that Kadri turned down is the Rangers. Like the Flames, the Rangers are competitive now but are also younger and even made the Conference Finals last season.
