Boston Bruins Issue A Statement After The Death Of Former First-Round Draft Pick
The Boston Bruins have issued a statement following the death of former Boston Bruins first-round draft pick Dwight Foster.
Today, the Boston Bruins organization received some terrible news after an announcement confirmed the passing of former Boston Bruins first-round draft pick Dwight Foster.
Foster was originally drafted by the Boston Bruins with the 16th overall pick in the first-round of the 1977 NHL Amateur Draft.
Foster would go on to play his first four season with the Boston Bruins organization appearing in 192 games and putting up 47 goals, 70 assists, for 117 points before leaving the Bruins organization.
Later on in his career he would end up being traded back to the Boston Bruins from the Detroit Red Wings for Dave Donnelly where he would end up playing the last two years of his NHL Career with the Bruins from 1985-87.
Sadly with Foster's death he will be leaving behind four children Alex, Dwayne, Peter, and Genevieve.
The Bruins just released a statement on his death, and this is what they had to say:
We were devastated and saddened to hear of the passing of Dwight Foster at the age of 67.
Dwight was beloved and highly respected by his teammates, and he will be missed by the entire Bruins family.
A #1 draft pick of the Bruins in 1977, Dwight had two stints with the B's in the 70s and 80s. In total he played 541 NHL games with Boston, Detroit, New Jersey and the Colorado Rockies.
More importantly, he was a first-class guy with a kind heart.
We send our sincere condolences to his family and loved ones.
Our condolences are sent to his family, and friends he is leaving behind.
