NHL legend and former Boston Bruins forward Jaromir Jagr made a pretty good prediction way back in 2013. Jagr predicted that current Colorado Avalanche forward Valeri Nichushkin was going to be a stud.
From 2013:
''[Valeri Nichushkin] will be the best player in the world someday.''
2013 was Nichushkin's rookie season with the Dallas Stars when he put up 14 goals and 20 assists in 79 games. Three years later the Russian had 0 goals in 57 games played and was subsequently bought out by the Stars.
In 182 games with the Avalanche since, he's collected 48 goals and 52 assists. Including 15 points in the 2022 postseason and 6 in the Final, helping the Avalanche win the Stanley Cup. Now, through 6 games this season, Nichushkin is second in the NHL with 6 goals and 5 assists.
Maybe he's not the best player in the NHL but Jagr was definitely onto something back in 2013!
