By finding the back of the net in the Bruins 8-1 win over the Devils last night, Brad Marchand reached the 30-goal milestone for the fifth time in his NHL career.
By doing so, he became just the ninth player in franchise history with as many 30-goal campaigns. Marchand followed in the footsteps of teammate David Pastrnak, who also netted 30 goals for the fifth time of his career in early March.
The nine players in Boston franchise history to record five or more 30-goal seasons are: Phil Esposito (8), Rick Middleton (8), Johnny Bucyk (7), Peter McNab (6), Cam Neely (6), Patrice Bergeron (6), Bobby Orr (5), Pastrnak (5) and Marchand (5).
That's a pretty elite list right there. But that's not where the comparisons end for how good Marchand has been for the Bruins!
Since his NHL debut in 2009-10, only six players have more 30-goal seasons than Marchand. Those players are: Alex Ovechkin (12), Steven Stamkos (7), Sidney Crosby (6), Max Pacioretty (6), Auston Matthews (6) and Connor McDavid (6).
Marchy's name could be much higher in the record books too, since he finished with 29 goals in last year's shortened campaign... and had 28 the season before that.
In case the rest of the league hasn't noticed, Brad Marchand is still the real deal.
