We have a hit-of-the-year candidate from Friday night's game between the New York Islanders and the New Jersey Devils!
Devils forward Miles Wood carried the puck up the ice, only to get stopped dead in his tracks by Islanders defenseman Alexander Romanov. Wood was visibly shaken up immediately as his linemate Michael McLeod dropped his gloves to stand up for him.
Check out the play below:
Every season, more and more players are caught coming across the middle of the ice with their heads down. And this particular hit was as clean as it gets but a player was still forced to drop the gloves because of it.
