The Edmonton Oilers looked like they were on cruise control to take a 3-1 series lead on their provincial rival Calgary Flames, going up 3-0 after the first period.

The Flames scored two goals 36 seconds apart to make it close, with the score 3-2 after two periods. Still, the Oilers had the lead halfway through the third when Edmonton was on the powerplay; the unthinkable happened.

Flames defenseman Rasmus Andersson shot the puck from inside his own blueline on the Oilers' net, and Mike Smith clearly didn't see it coming till it was already in his net. The tying goal went down as a 132-foot, shorthanded goal with just 9:04 left in the third period.

Watch Smith's terrible blunder here:

He even waved his arms after the goal like it was somebody else's fault:

Thankfully for Smith and the Oilers, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins scored the game-winner with just 3:27 remaining, and Evander Kane added an empty netter to win the game 5-3.
