Concussions continue to be an ongoing problem in the NHL, as another young career is likely over.

Ondrej Kase of the Carolina Hurricanes has been in concussion protocol since October 13th.

The 27-year-old signed a one-year, $1.5 million deal with the Carolina Hurricanes this past offseason but appeared in just one game before going on the IR.

Now, reports are surfacing that Kase most likely won't play another game in the NHL as he plans on returning home to Czechia to play.

According to reporter Markus Nuutinen of nhlsuomi, Kase is likely to sign a contract with HC Verva Litvinov of the Czech League.

Due to previous concussion problems, Kase has only skated in 139 games since the 2017-18 season. Including just 9 games over two seasons with the Boston Bruins between 2019 and 2021

When healthy, the 27-year-old has been a solid NHLer, registering 57 goals and 124 points in 258 games.
