On October 23rd, 2008, 20-year-old Milan Lucic made himself known as a Boston Bruins fan favorite.
On this day, 14 years ago, Lucic was starting his second season with the Bruins when he finished his check on Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Mike Van Ryn and put him right through the glass at TD Garden.
That was when ''Looch's'' reputation was cemented as one of, if not the heaviest hitter in the NHL. It's safe to say he still is 14 years later, playing for the Calgary Flames at the age of 34.
This is how Lucic recalled the incident years after:
''I didn't even realize it happened until 10 seconds later.''
''Like, 'Oh, wow. What just happened?' I remember there was a couple from Ireland that was sitting in the front row there, and they got the worst of it. I saw them the next day because you felt bad; they got stitched up.''
And as Jack Edwards so perfectly puts it:
''That will make every highlight reel for about a decade!''
He wasn't wrong! Re-live the iconic moment below:
