One year ago the NHL, and hockey community mourned the loss of a hockey legend, Rick Jeanneret.

Rick Jeanneret was the voice of the Buffalo Sabres for a long 51-year broadcasting career and was the Hockey Hall of Fame's 2012 Foster Hewitt Award recipient.

Jeanneret broadcasted his first Buffalo Sabres game in 1971 on a radio, and then finally joined the Sabres TV broadcast in 1995.

Today marks one year since Rick Jeanneret passed away, he had multiple different health scares but was diagnosed with throat cancer in 2014, but would only go on to miss a couple of games during the 2014-15 season.

Today the Buffalo Sabres made a post of him on social media stating they remember and celebrate him everyday.

In 2016 he underwent a surgery to give him a pacemaker due to having a slow pulse.

He left behind his wife, three kids and several grandchildren.
