Rudolfs Balcers signed a one year, $750,000 contract as a UFA with the Florida Panthers on July 14th, 2022, and yesterday the club placed the forward on waivers.
Balcers, 25, was placed on waivers Friday in order to make room for the returning Aaron Ekblad, who had missed 11 games with an injury. However, the forward was quickly claimed by an Atlantic Division rival.
Balcers has two goals and two assists through 14 games with the Panthers. The Latvian was originally selected 142nd overall by the San Jose Sharks and has appeared in 167 NHL games with the Sharks, Ottawa Senators and the Panthers.
