During Boston's 3-1 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning on Tuesday night, NESN's Jack Edwards went viral for his comments toward Patrick Maroon, playing on his nickname: ''Fat Pat''.
In response, however, the Lightning forward made a donation in Edwards' name to a Tampa Bay Area charity to support mental health and body image. Thursday, Maroon shared that the donation amount has reached $50,000.
The following is a statement from Maroon, as per Lightning reporter Gabby Shirley:
''It's never fun to hear that. It's kind of embarrassing for mewe're here to turn something negative into a positiveit is what it is. It's over. It's in the past. Hopefully, we made an impact in the Tampa community and around the world.''
Although Jack's comments were not meant to be demoralizing or shameful (as he makes crazy comments all the time), he maybe went a little too far out of his way for this one.
