Back in January, Carolina Hurricanes' forward Vincent Trocheck was asked how he felt being compared to Boston Bruins forward Brad Marchand.

Trocheck quipped back, "Are you calling me a rat?" And, of course, in classic Marchand fashion, he took to Instagram to respond.

Marchand replied simply with, "That's like comparing a Lambo to a Prius." Marchand went on to show how significantly better his stats were compared to Trocheck.

Marchand's post has since been deleted, but it all seemed to be in good fun, and like both players had moved on from the incident.

However, after the Bruins 6-0 loss to the Hurricanes on February 11th, the Governor of North Carolina felt he needed to throw in one final dig at Marchand. Roy Cooper took to Twitter and left the following message, tagging Marchand along the way.

"Another impressive win by our @Canes against the @NHL Bruins tonight. Wouldn't have mattered if the Lamborghini Marchand @Bmarch63 had played. His cheap shots last night will give him a lot more time to post pretentious, misleading smaller hockey market tripe anyway."

There's nothing like some gamesmanship and regular-season rivalry to prepare for a big playoff series between the Bruins and Hurricanes.

Now we'll have to wait and see who will get the last laugh!
