Writer Joe McDonald of the Worcester Telegram reported that the Boston Bruins have five different candidates scheduled for interviews for their head coaching position.

He tweeted it early Wednesday morning (@JoeyMacHockey):

"Jim Montgomery, Jay Leach, Joe Sacco, Spencer Carbery and David Quinn are scheduled to interview with the Bruins."

Jim Montgomery, Jay Leach and David Quinn have been linked to the Bruins head coaching job basically since Bruce Cassidy was fired. Sacco and Carbery are new names on the list but definitely exciting candidates.

Joe Sacco is a Medford, Massachusetts native and is currently an assistant coach with the Bruins. He was previously head coach of the Colorado Avalanche and was a finalist for the Jack Adams Award in his first season with the team. After four years in Colorado, he was relieved of his head coaching duties and was hired as an assistant with the Buffalo Sabres. Just one year later, he was hired by the Bruins and has been an assistant since 2014.

Spencer Carbery, 40, is currently an assistant coach with the Toronto Maple Leafs. His first head coaching job came back in 2011 with the South Carolina Stingrays of the ECHL. He left the Stingrays in 2016 to be the head coach of the Saginaw Spirit of the OHL until he was an assistant coach with the Providence Bruins (under Jay Leach) after just one year. Carbery became the head coach of the Hershey Bears of the AHL in 2018 before coming to the Leafs before the 2021-22 season.
