It's reported that Alex Gachenyuk has signed a professional tryout with a Western Conference contender.
Originally selected third overall by the Montreal Canadiens in 2012, Galcenyuk has appeared in 643 career games with the Canadiens, Arizona Coyotes (two stints), Pittsburgh Penguins, Minnesota Wild, Ottawa Senators and Toronto Maple Leafs. He has recorded 146 goals and 208 assists in that time, with career-high 56 points in 2015-16 with the Habs.
And now, the 28-year-old has reportedly signed a PTO with the Colorado Avalanche to keep his career alive. The Athletic's Peter Baugh was the first to report:
''The #Avs are signing Alex Galchenyuk to a PTO, per a source. He had 21 points in 60 games with Arizona last season.''
