The Vegas Golden Knights fired head coach Peter DeBoer on May 16th after they missed the playoffs for the first time in franchise history.

It's reported that the club is now interested in two bigger names that have previously coached at the NHL level:

Paul Maurice stepped down as the Winnipeg Jets head coach late in the 2021-22 NHL season after nine seasons with the club. Maurice first coached at the NHL level for the Hartford Whalers in the 1995-96 season and has also coached the Carolina Hurricanes on two separate occasions (11 total seasons) and the Toronto Maple Leafs for just two years. He has an overall record of 775-681-99-130 and became the youngest coach in NHL history to coach 1,000 games at the age of 43 back on November 28th, 2010.

Rick Tocchet played 18 seasons in the NHL for the Philadelphia Flyers, Pittsburgh Penguins, Los Angeles Kings, Boston Bruins, Washington Capitals, and Phoenix Coyotes. Tocchet has been the head coach for the Tampa Bay Lightning and the Arizona Coyotes, most recently for the Coyotes when they mutually parted ways after the 2020-21 season. He has a total record of 178-200-60 as a head coach in the NHL.

In 67 games played with the Boston Bruins, Tocchet had 32 goals and 22 assists. Over his career, he amassed 440 goals and 512 assists for 952 points in 1,144 games played.
