An attractive bottom-six option is still available as we reach mid-August.
27-year-old forward Tyler Motte spent five seasons with the Vancouver Canucks before being traded to the New York Rangers at the deadline for a fourth-round pick.
Vancouver sports insider Rick Dhaliwal reported Monday that four or five teams «have shown serious interest» in signing Motte, but the hold-up is due to financial constraints.
''Financials still need to be worked out as some teams still need to move other salaries out. It's a common theme around the NHL, [with] so many agents waiting for teams to clear cap space.''
Obviously, the Boston Bruins don't have any cap space to sign Motte, but if they could make room, he would be a massive upgrade in the bottom-six over Tomas Nosek, Nick Foligno and Trent Frederic.
