Retired NHL goalie Ilya Bryzgalov reveals unique post-hockey life
We all knew that former NHL goaltender Ilya Bryzgalov was a little bit ''out there'', but his latest post-hockey endeavour is shocking to even his biggest supporters.
Bryzgalov, 42, has recently decided to pursue a degree in cosmology. His fascination with the nature of the universe is longstanding, and the former journeyman goaltender has even stated on a number of occasions that, was he never a hockey player, he'd probably be an astronaut.
Bryzgalov played 465 career NHL games with a record of 221-162-54, along with a 2.58 GAA and a .912 SV%, split between the Anaheim Ducks, Phoenix Coyotes, Philadelphia Flyers, Edmonton Oilers and Minnesota Wild. He retired from the league in 2015.
-Bryzgalov discussed his interest in studying the origin and evolution of the universe during an interview back in 2012:
''I don't know. Right now I'm very into the universe you know. Like what is it? Like how it was created. The solar system is so humongous big, right? But if you see like our solar system, our galaxy on the side right it's so small you can't even see it and you think like, we have some problems here on the Earth we worry about? Compared to like? Nothing. Just be happy. Don't worry be happy right now''
