The Tampa Bay Lightning traded veteran defenseman Ryan McDonagh to the Nashville Predators on Sunday in exchange for defensman Philippe Myers and forward prospect Grant Mismash.
McDonagh has a full-no trade clause which he had to waive to be moved to Nashville.
However, as NHL insider Nick Kypreos has reported, the defenseman was not to thrilled to be going to the Predators.
Until the Lightning basically gave him no choice with a shocking ultimatum.
Have a listen to Kypreos' story of events:
Basically, McDonagh had to choose between going to Columbus or Nashville and he chose the latter.
Goes to show how a hard cap forces teams to get rid of players that mean a lot to a franchise. The veteran defensman was just the odd man out on the Lightning squad.
