The 2022-23 season has already been history making for the Boston Bruins, but they - and their fans - want more.
After 40 games, the Bruins are 32-4-4 and hold a goal differential of +68, which is more than double than the next best team (Stars at +35).
And according to Jackie Redmond of The NHL Network, this Boston team is on a better pace than the 2018-19 Tampa Lightning team that tied the all-time record of 62 wins.
As per Redmond:
Boston is 32-4-4 (.850 Points % in 40 GP)
Not sure if anyone's comped the Bruins to the 62 Win Bolts of 2018-2019 yet, but allow me.🤗
On Jan 8, 2019:
Tampa was 33-8-2 ( .791 Points %, 43 GP)
Just sayin, record setting season is on the table here folks.
The record is currently held by the 1995-96 Detroit Red Wings (62-13-7) and the Lightning (62-16-4).
However, neither of those teams won the Stanley Cup in their record-setting season. The Red Wings lost in the Conference Finals to the eventual champion Colorado Avalanche, while the Lighting were swept in the first round by the Columbus Blue Jackets in dramatic fashion.
