Coming into this summer, veteran UFA P.K. Subban was (and still is) in a sticky situation with his NHL future.
The 13-year veteran is coming off a massive eight-year, $72 million contract, which paid him $9 million per season.
Subban earned that last contract, but now the buzz going around the league is if 33 year old still has the potential for one more decent contract.
It's September now, and Subban has still yet to sign a new deal.
Whether that's because of a high asking price or a lack of interest remains unclear. However, according to ESPN's Greg Wyshynski, Subban's agent stated that there are plenty of interested parties; they just can't pull the trigger on a deal until they sort some other things out.
P.K. Subban's best days are behind him, but that doesn't mean he can't help out an NHL team in ways other than on the score sheet.
