The NHL Network releases Top-20 defenseman ranking 2022-23 season.

The NHL Network has continued its annual preseason positional ranks with the top-20 defensemen heading into the 2022-23 season.
After an absolutely amazing season, it's no surprise that Cale Makar of the Colorado Avalanche comes in at number one. Makar racked up the hardware in 2021-22, with a Norris Trophy, Conn Smythe and a Stanley Cup. He did all a defenseman can, and only at 23 years old.
However, following Makar is where it gets interesting. You have the two-way threats like Roman Josi, Adam Fox and Victor Hedman, or the elite defensive defensemen like Charlie McAvoy, Jaccob Slavin and Miro Heiskanen.
