The Toronto Maple Leafs have sold in a record breaking deal
A record breaking sale has been completed with the Toronto Maple Leafs this morning.
Just announced this morning, the Toronto Maple Leafs have officially been sold, and it was a record breaking sale. The Maple Leafs are considered one of the most valuable franchises in the NHL and that was proved today.
This morning an announcement was made that Bell sold their entire Maple Leafs interest to Rogers, and the price will blow your mind.
Scott Soshnick shared the details early this morning on twitter:
BREAKING: Rogers Reaches Deal to Buy Bell's 37.5% Stake in Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment for $4.7B Canadian (~3.5B USD), giving it 75% of the Maple Leafs/Raptors parent company.
With rumours about Bell wanting to own their own team in the GTA one day, makes you wonder if them selling the Maple Leafs to Rogers is the start of them trying to get their own franchise.
The NHL is continuing to look to add more teams through expansion, and with Bell being interested in owning their own franchise makes it seem like another hockey team may be coming to the Toronto area.
