Yesterday, the team announced that defenseman Charlie McAvoy would be continuing a Boston Bruins Thanksgiving tradition on Thursday. For the 14th consecutive year (second for McAvoy), a Bruins player will donate and deliver pies to local organizations around Boston on Thanksgiving.

As per Bruins PR:

''McAvoy has purchased 400 pies from Stop & Shop to distribute among local organizations in the Greater Boston Area, including the New England Center and Home for Veterans, St. Francis House, Pine Street Inn, Haley House, the Brighton Marine Center, and more. Additionally, the 24-year-old defenseman will deliver 300 pairs of Boston Bruins Winter Classic Socks, donated by the Boston Bruins ProShop powered by '47, to Pine Street Inn.''

But as the club also shared, that's not all:

''On top of the pies and socks, McAvoy will help deliver mattresses, recliners, and pillows, donated by Bob's Discount Furniture, to the Brighton Marine Center and Fisher House Boston. The donation will include 15 Synergy Twin mattresses, five Showtime Home Theater power recliners, and 15 Bob O-Pedic Essential pillows.''

Former defenseman Aaron Ward started the tradition in 2008 and has since been carried on by players such as Zdeno Chara (2018-2020), Matt Beleskey (2015-17), Gregory Campbell (2010-14), and Dennis Wideman (2009).
