The Rangers got another powerplay on a Hurricanes bench minor for too many men at 7:46 of the first, and New York made them pay again. Forward Chris Kreider scored his seventh of the playoffs just 8:00 into the game.
There have already been four penalties, two for each team, called in the game just halfway through the first period. The Rangers are 2 for 2 while the Hurricanes are 0 for 2 on the man advantage.
