The Edmonton Oilers are licking their wounds, after losing their first shot at a Stanley Cup since 1990, and giving a Canadian team a shot at the title since 1993.

Edmonton and Jeff Jackson, have been quick at work to adjust the roster during free agency. Will one of those faces Jackson bring in be Leon Draisaitl, who has one year left on his current contract?

GM Don Sweeney better take advantage left open by Jackson and the Oilers, as they're currently in negotiations.

Yet Draisaitl's agent Jiri Poner feels optimistic about the team getting a deal done with the forward.

As according to Poner's interview with EisHockeyNews:

Poner indicated that he is «very confident that there will be an agreement with Edmonton in the end that both sides will be happy with."

The Bruins have an advantage as Poner is negotiating in the open:

"We have our ideas, but the ball is in Edmonton's court."

«I can still remember the shitstorm Peter Chiarelli had to endure when he gave Leon the contract for $8.5 million a year,» he said, adding «(Draisaitl) has been playing at least 30 percent below his value for three years. But that's not a complaint.»
Draisaitl's next contract according to Evolving Hockey is projected to be a whopping $13.5 Million AAV.

Could GM Don Sweeney swing for the moon and sign Leon?
