Amidst speculation sparked by Bruins insider Fluto Shinzawa of The Athletic pondering a potential trade involving netminder Linus Ullmark, the NHL trade market for goalies faces a unique dynamic.

With the Edmonton Oilers and Carolina Hurricanes seemingly out of the goalie upgrade hunt, the New Jersey Devils emerge as a potential destination for Ullmark if they fail to secure Jacob Markstrom from the Calgary Flames by Friday's deadline, as reported by Pierre LeBrun on Wednesday morning.

LeBrun also raises the possibility of the Devils considering Nashville Predators' Kevin Lankinen as a rental option before revisiting the goalie situation in the offseason.

«Devils goalie options: preferred route is still to get Markstrom out of Calgary, or does an Ullmark trade with Boston make sense. If that can't be, then wait until summer to fix the net but in meantime, maybe a stopgap measure. Rental Kevin Lankinen in Nash as an option?»

While many view Jeremy Swayman as ready to assume the Bruins' starting goalie role, Ullmark's potential departure could offer cap space and roster flexibility.

However, it risks disrupting the team's solid goaltending duo, potentially affecting team morale during a critical juncture in the season.

While a trade involving Ullmark remains a possibility, it would likely require an exceptional offer to sway the Bruins into parting with the talented netminder.
