The Bruins this season, are 0-2 against the Panthers and to remain relevant in the Atlantic they need to overcome, this final boss.
The Bruins would try and mount a comeback and would score 3 points, with only 5 Bruins players notching a point today.
But instead of the usual players, like David Pastrnak, Pavel Zacha, or Brad Marchand putting their names in the box score, it was a new set of contributors.
It'd be the Bruins' fourth line, John Beecher, Cole Koepke, and Mark Kastelic, who were able to put their name on the scoreboard.
Kastelic would somehow make it out of the game with 3 points, John Beecher would score 2 points(1 G, 1 A), and Cole Koepke would score 1 point.
Defenseman Brandon Carlo(1 point), and Mason Lohrei( 2 points, 1 G, 1 A) would contribute with 3 combined points as well.
If it wasn't for the Bruins' 4th line, the team would've been counted out of the game from the start.
We'd never think we'd arrive at a point where the Bruins grinders would be the biggest contributors, but it is 2024 and it seems like the world is upside down.
Nevertheless, they've carried themselves well against the Panthers and it showed.
Should Jim Montgomery consider a new way of playing against the Panthers? Because if your bruisers are the ones putting up the points early in the season, there could be an issue with the rest of your lines.
It also goes to show that maybe the Korpisalo trade, may not have been so negative after all, if Kastelic can adapt to the Bruins style and be a reliable, and consistent player.
Kastelic played 63 games for the Senators last season, and would only post 10 points( 5 G, 5 A).
Can he benefit from Montgomery's flawed, albeit highly-power system? It appears so.
