The Boston Bruins' early-season struggles have led some to wonder if head coach Jim Montgomery might be on the hot seat. After last season's disappointing playoff exit to the eventual Stanley Cup champs, the Florida Panthers, the Bruins were hoping for a stronger start this year.
Instead, they've been slow out of the gate, with Montgomery even publicly calling out star players to improve their performance.
Currently, Boston finds itself eighth in the Atlantic Division, tied for dead last with the Montreal Canadiens with nine points. For a team used to high standards, falling behind in the standings often leads to blame landing on the coach. This may now be the case for Montgomery.
NHL analyst and former player Bill Lindsay recently shared his opinion on the matter, predicting the Bruins might part ways with Montgomery before Thanksgiving if things don't improve.
With back-to-back games against the Philadelphia Flyers and Seattle Kraken this weekend, the Bruins have a chance to regroup after tough losses to the Flyers (2-0) and Hurricanes (8-2) last week.
Montgomery remains hopeful, saying,
If the team can turn things around soon, Montgomery might still have time to steer the Bruins back on course.
But as of right now it seems likely the Bruins may end up with a different coach behind their bench before this season ends.
Do you think we will see a new coach in Boston this year?
