The Boston Bruins are not off to a good start to the season, starting off 2-2-0 in the 2024-25 season. The fourth line has been the highlight to the Boston Bruins season so far. Having your fourth line producing like the Bruins have been is something the Bruins can't complain about, but one thing they can complain about is the power play.

In four games the Boston Bruins have only scored two goals on 18 power play attempts. This is good for just an 11.1% success rate, which also ranks them 22nd out of 32 teams in the entire league. The Boston Bruins have the second most attempts on the power play as well.

Not only that but the Boston Bruins have allowed the same amount of short handed goals as power play goals.

«I think we just got to be a little stronger in battles,» Marchand said of the power play struggles on Monday. «We need to outnumber teams. Just simplify. You have to outnumber the kill in the battles and come up with pucks. We haven't come up with enough. We haven't had a ton of practice time, so it's something we'll definitely work on.»

Charlie McAvoy, and David Pastrnak have been the only two goal scorers for the Boston Bruins on the power play. Between both the first power play unit, and the second power play unit they have registered 20 goals on net while on the man advantage. The first unit consists of Pastrnak, McAvoy, Lindholm, Marchand, and Zacha. While the second unit normally has Lindholm, Lohrei, Geekie, Frederic, Coyle, and Brazeau.

When you look at the power play on paper, it looks really good, and looks like it should be doing better then what it is. But the Bruins, and coaching staff might just need to switch some things up and see how it does, which wouldn't hurt them this early in the season.

Adding players like Kastelic or Poitras to the power play unit wouldn't hurt to try, or just trying to swap some players from the top unit to the second unit.

Are there any specific players you would like to see on the Bruins power play?
