Boston Bruins general manager Don Sweeney confirmed a major rumour involving Patrick Maroon.

Sweeney didn't close the door on the Bruins potentially re-signing Patrick Maroon, but revealed this one key factor will play a big part on if he does come back with the Bruins or not.

«Health will probably be the paramount thing that we factor in with Pat moving forward.»

Don Sweeney told reporters this at their end of year press conference held the other day.

Patrick Maroon is 36 and towards the end of his career, and health has been a problem, it sure doesn't seem like he will be coming back.

Maroon was acquired during the NHL trade deadline, but didn't really play for the Bruins as he underwent back surgery earlier in the year. He only appeared in two regular season games for the Bruins, but did play in all 13 playoff games.

Maroon was a good charecter for the Bruins to have on the ice, the bench and in the locker room. He brought a physical presence on the ice, and good leadership qualities on the bench and in the locker room.

Maroon expressed that if he was offered a contract, he would love to come back to Boston, it all lies in the hands of Don Sweeney and will be interesting to see what he will do.
