Boston Bruins Captain Brad Marchand Issued A Major Statement Regarding The Teams Current Situation
A major statement was just issued from Boston Bruins captain Brad Marchand, and he addressed the current situation the Bruins are in.
The Bruins may be flipping things around. They snapped a six game losing streak, and are now currently on a two game winning streak after beating two divisional rivals in the Tampa Bay Lightning and Florida Panthers, both who are ahead of the Bruins in the NHL standings.
This is the Bruins first winning streak since before they wen on their Christmas holiday break when the Bruins won eight of 11 games.
Coming out of the Christmas break, things were looking ugly for the Boston Bruins winning just one of their eight games, and had a six game losing streak.
Cam Neely stated during the Boston Bruins Gala on Wednesday that the Boston Bruins may go through a retool on or before the March 7th NHL trade deadline, and Brad Marchand stated that he believes the Bruins can turn things around before then.
«We're aware of the situation we're in. We understand the roads that are in front of us and where they lead. We understand we haven't performed the way we've needed to, and there are consequences that come with that,» Marchand said. «There are very high expectations in this organization. We're expected to perform and do our job and compete every year for a Cup. And if we're not going to do that, then changes are going to be made so the team does compete for a Cup.»
Brad Marchand emphasize that the Bruins just need to focus on their next game and practice, and not worry about what is going to happen to the team during the trade deadline.
«Our biggest thing is we can't look ahead. There's too much that can happen between now and (the deadline) We have to take it day by day and put a good stretch together. You look at some teams in the past that have been in positions similar to ours, and they've gone to Finals and won Cups. We're not in a terrible spot. Yeah, we're not in the best spot, but it doesn't mean we can't accomplish something special this year. The last couple of games, we showed we can compete with good teams, and we just need to continue to build off that.»
Neely stated that the Bruins will not be going "all-in" at this years trade deadline, so it will be interesting to see what moves the team makes heading into the trade deadline.
